MedCenter Rehab

MedCenter Rehab is comprised of two clinical facilities that are closely associated
companies. Both are located at 2040 Babcock Road in the South Texas Medical Center in
San Antonio. We have operated in the same location since being established in 1990.
Our Physical Therapy and Functional Testing services are provided through Medical Center
Physical Therapy, Inc. Our Behavioral Health and Multi-disciplinary Programs are provided
through MedCenter Work Recovery, LLC.

Our Central Purpose

The staff at both of our facilities is dedicated to our core foundation and mission of
delivering the highest quality of care to our patients via the best evidence-based
approaches in a compassionate and convenient way; while providing the highest quality
of services to our physicians in an expeditious and courteous manner. Please know that
we are here to assist you in any way we can. Our comprehensive treatment solutions and
unique multi-disciplinary approaches have been developed for the purpose of delivering the
best results to both patient and doctor.

What Physician Specialties do we Serve?

We see patients from a wide variety of medical specialties. We treat patients with acute or chronic conditions and with temporary or permanent problems. Our patients can be challenged with painful, limiting, debilitating, or degenerative conditions. Most patients will find these challenges difficult to manage and/or live with. We provide such patients with the means, knowledge, education, training, and wherewithal to address minimize, absolve, manage, or overcome all that can be addressed. It is what we do, and it is what we do very well. Historically we have evaluated patients from the vast majority of medical specialties that include:

  • Cardiology
  • Cardio-Thoracic Surgery
  • Chiropractic
  • Dental
  • Ear, Nose, and Throat
  • Family or General Practice
  • General Surgery
  • Hand Surgery
  • Internal Medicine
  • Maxillofacial Specialist
  • Musculoskeletal Specialist
  • Neurology
  • Neurosurgery
  • Occupational Medicine
  • Oncology
  • Orthopedics
  • Osteopathic
  • Oto-neurologist
  • Pain Management
  • Pediatrics
  • Physical Medicine and Rehab
  • Plastic Surgery
  • Podiatry
  • Pulmonology
  • Psychiatry
  • Rheumatology

No matter what your specialty is, we are happy to evaluate and make recommendations for treatment. We want to help and appreciate you allowing us to be a part of any patient’s care, no matter how challenging!

How do we assist Physicians?

Patient Focus

We are in the business of helping people. A good rule we find helpful to
remember is “if the patient isn’t happy, ain’t nobody happy”, especially the
physician! Our best attempt to identify and prioritize the specific needs of
that patient is made with every referral we receive. These identified areas
are filtered through what the patient’s perspective and preferences are and
always under the backdrop of discussing what is in their best interest and
informed consent. This process also addresses your (the physician’s) directives,
preferences, and prescription. We will make every effort to incorporate all of
these preferences into the final Plan of Care (PoC), always subject to your approval.
The patient’s insurance coverage, preferences, availability, and financial wherewithal
are constantly considered in the final design. Once formulated, the PoC created
specifically for that is returned to you for review, input, and final approval.

Physician focus

There will be times when it may be preferred or appropriate to speak with our
staff regarding a patient referral and we encourage this in any case you feel it is
needed. We do not see this as a bother, but instead recognize its importance in the
quality of care the patient will receive, to which we are obligated. Furthermore,
there are patients who occasionally need more specialized approaches or specific care.
Perhaps there are medical or administrative challenges that need to be addressed along
with what the patient personally needs. There may be issues pertaining to insurance
benefits, coverage, approval, and/or guideline compliancy. These are all areas we want
to help you address and solve. Please never hesitate to call or request our assistance
with any type of challenge–clinically, administratively, or professionally; either on
your behalf or that of the patient’s.
